The church was born out of the fire of evangelism, after the Lord lead pastor Israel Mutabaganya to take the good news to that village. The village was characterized by witchcraft and drunkenness; many people were bound by the cords of sin, By the grace many came to the Lord that year, Many were delivered from the powers of darkness and torment of demonic forces. The senior pastor of Searchlight of God Maya is Pastor Robert Mugerwa. The church is located 14 miles on Masaka Road in the town center of Maya.
