The church was born out of a revelation that God gave to pastor Israel Mutabaganya to go and deliver His people in the town of Wobulenzi. The town was indeed a hub of prostitution, drunkenness, witchcraft and all sorts of orgies. Searchlight of God Ministries Maganjo sent a team of evangelists, including pr. Alice Kazamba, Mukisa Kitondekijja, Daniel Lumbuye and more. The Lord used these evangelists in miracles signs and wonders to deliver the people of Wobulenzi from darkness to light. Many who were sick got healed miraculously and demons fled from people at the word of the preachers. At the end of the four months Mission, Searchlight of God Church was born in June 2002. The senior pastor is Pastor Godfrey-Nsumba with his wife Margret Nsumba.
